Blogging is one of the most effective ways to drive targeted traffic to your website. With well-written, informative posts, you demonstrate depth of knowledge in your niche and increase the impact of your online footprint. To maximize the benefits from your blog, we’re providing an A to Z list of best practices and tips to follow.

A    Author: Change the default author on your blog posts from Admin to your name (also be sure to include the publication date)
B    Block quotes: Use these to indent text or add visual interest to a quote
C    Cadence: Establish and maintain a regular, predictable rhythm for publishing
D    Deep: Offer substantial information rather than skimming the surface of a topic
E    Evergreen: Create some timeless posts that may be used for when “life happens”
F    Formatting: Break up paragraphs, use stylized fonts, boxed text, images and other graphics to make posts easy to scan
G   Guest posts: These will increase your exposure and offer a fresh perspective while providing a break from writing
H   Header tags: Use H1, H2 and H3 tags, which are recognized by search engines
I    Images: Visual elements like photos and diagrams make your posts easier to scan
J    Justify: Offer proof for your claims with metrics or research
K   Keywords: Focus your posts around a keyword and include that keyword tag
L   Links: Embed links to relevant external sites as well as to your past posts
M   Metatags:  Correctly formatted title, description and keyword tags will help your SEO
N   Need: Fill a need by offering helpful information or advice
O   Original: Even when blogging about a common topic, provide a unique perspective or approach from a different angle – avoid the “echo chamber”
P   Punchy: Use an impactful writing style; eliminate any unnecessary words
Q   Quality: Proofread content to ensure it’s well-written, without spelling or grammar errors
R   Repurpose: Hone your message and then re-use in multiple places online
S   Succinct: Create concise, well-written, consumable posts of 250-750 words
T   Tags: Use categories and tags to help search engines index your posts
U   Useful: Consider series such as tips, lists, how-to’s, FAQs
V   Variety: Mix up the post format to keep things interesting: tips, interviews, how-to’s
W  Widgets: Use widgets to offer functionality; a wide variety is available
X   X-factor: (OK, a stretch with the alphabet soup, but …) Offer content or a style that keeps readers coming back
Y   YouTube: The YouTube Channel Gallery widget makes it easy to embed your videos right into your site
Z   Zealot: Offer a passionate perspective to generate interest and engagement
